Micah Hurst

Software engineer. Founder of Elemental App Solutions.

I've spent over two decades building production software. Today I build it for clients: custom web and mobile software, practical AI features, and private AI that runs entirely on your own hardware. AI is in my toolchain every day, used carefully. I take on a small number of contract projects at a time, especially with founders.

The throughline is the same one I've held for 22+ years: ship things that are correct, maintainable, and genuinely owned by the people who paid for them.

What I build

Custom software. Full-stack web and mobile applications, built to last and built to be maintained, accelerated with AI where it earns its place. A current specialty: native companion apps for existing SaaS products.

AI solutions. Practical AI features wired into real products, built so you can see what they're actually doing instead of taking a demo on faith.

Private AI that runs on your own hardware. Ask questions of your own documents and records, with nothing leaving your network.

The thinking behind it

The same safety-first thinking goes into every system I build. I designed Arcana, a programming language built so that AI-generated code is checked for correctness before it ever runs. It's an open, public language spec you can read for yourself.

What I'm actually building

It all feeds one thing I'm building: Elemental Sites, a platform for small businesses and for people who want to build an app without losing the rights to it, the folks who usually get priced out of owning real software. Arcana exists to power it. It's not launched yet, and client work is what pays for the road there.
